Home for the Holidays

The winter season brings traditions and rituals from a world of traditions. And home is in the center of nearly all of them. Canvas offers a cozy candlelit evening looking at the role of home in songs of the season.

Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire; it is the time for home.

Songs That Go Bump in The Night

Music and storytelling have a unique relationship. And there’s no better example than that of the ghost story: discord, resolution, build up and surprise are elements shared. Songs That Go Bump in the Night is a new show featuring the winning entry from our first ghost story writing contest and a discussion about how music sounds scary. Appropriate for older children.

I delight in what I fear.

Streets, Neighbors & Sunny Days

In recent years, classic children's programs Sesame Street and Mister Roger's Neighborhood have come into the spotlight. Not only have they have given us great stories, they've given us incredible songs. Bring the whole family for this special event celebrating the music of PBS in the 1970s.

It’s not whether children learn from television, it’s what children learn from television...because everything that children see on television is teaching them something.
